About Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta (also called “Jogjakarta” and known as Yogya or Jogja for short) is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia, attracting millions of visitors each year with their rich cultural heritage, beautiful landscapes, and fascinating history. This city has been the capital city of Indonesia during the Indonesian National Revolution of 1945–1949. Yogyakarta is led by a king known as the Sultan (current reign of Hamengku Buwono X) who serves as the appointed governor of the province (Special Region of Yogyakarta), while the other political offices on the province levels and below are contested through fair and competitive elections.
Yogyakarta is located on the island of Java. This city is known for its vibrant arts scene, traditional Javanese cuisine, and stunning historical landmarks. Some of the popular places visited by tourists are Borobudur temple, Prambanan temple, Ramayana Ballet Prambanan, Keraton Yogyakarta (the Palace of Yogyakarta), Malioboro street, Merapi volcano, Ullen Sentalu museum, etc. You may visit https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g294230-Activities-Yogyakarta_Region_Java.html for more detail.
